Improving our understanding of the composition of the flexible plastics stream to improve design and recovery.
Following the recommendations of the PRFLEX study, this project aims to build a database of flexible plastic packaging types, formats and composition, classified by product category (snacks, dairy products, pet food, etc.). The project will be conducted in collaboration with leading producer responsibility organizations (PRO) and local laboratories to analyze samples and determine their structure, composition, barrier layers and other significant characteristics. The insight gathered will inform improved packaging design, and enhance sortation and recycling processes.
